Exploring ways to promote equitable access to post-secondary education phase 2
Students are needed to gather, review, and synthesize information about ways to promote equitable access to post-secondary education. Specifically, students will engage in a literature review and jurisdictional scan. Students will gather and review academic and grey literature to identify (a) barriers to pursuing a post-secondary education and how identified barriers could be addressed at a university setting, and (b) promising practices to promote equitable, inclusive, and accessible post-secondary educational opportunities and ensure that universities are welcoming and accessible for all populations. Related to this, students will also conduct a jurisdictional scan to identify and explore university-based children/youth engagement programs in Canada.
Children's Loose Parts Play Project (Phase 2.1)
The proposed pilot study aims to address this critical gap by exploring 30 3- to 5-year-old children’s indoor LPP behaviour through qualitative and quantitative data collection and quantitative analyses. Using a pre-experimental design (12), children will be observed while playing with (I) open-ended materials (loose parts Box A) or (II) open-ended materials (loose parts Box B) or (III) single-/limited-purpose toys (control group). Our study aims to document crucial relationships between Loose Parts Play and children’s cognitive development while considering key social determinants such as gender, socioeconomic status (SES), and maternal education.
