We are currently seeking to craft a thorough educational curriculum in history of literature. The curriculum should be particularly focused on the political dimensions of literature masterpieces.
At this point, we are looking into developing the curriculum for two periods of time: Antiquity (Western – from the Homeric epics to the fall of the Roman Empire; China and India) and the Middle-Ages.
We are looking for 4-6 students for each period of time with some expertise on relevant topics to help us draft the curriculum. The students will work under the supervision of the Executive Director. Each student is expected to work 80 hours on the project.
To be eligible, a student should be studying in one of the following subjects: history, classical literature, Chinese studies, Indian studies, Asian studies.
Tasks to be completed will include:
· Specifying the general objectives of the curriculum;
· Putting forward relevant topics;
· Preparing a list of relevant authors and masterpieces, and writing a detailed chronological bibliography;
· Putting together a list of titles for the various classes to be prepared in order to fulfill the objectives of the curriculum, with an outline of the main ideas to be presented during each of them;
· Suggesting pedagogical tools to convey the program to an educated but non-specialist audience.
Students will be under the supervision of the Executive Director. They will meet her at least twice a week to ensure that the project in on-track.
