Details

The main goal of this project is to develop a comprehensive Airtable application that facilitates the streamlined operations and management of our non-profit Collective (A dozen non-profits and charities collaborating on joint community projects). The application will serve as a central repository and management tool, integrating various facets of the Collective including project management, grant applications, and member organization details, among others.

We will provide

  • Detailed discussions and documentation on the specified database structure, relations and user views on the data in various use cases.
  • Access to the collective's team for insights and guidance.
  • Periodic review sessions to guide the project's direction and provide necessary feedback.

Deliverables

We aim to collaborate with students to create this application, where they will be responsible for:

  • Understanding the specified database structure and relational connections as discussed.
  • Designing and implementing the database structure in Airtable.
  • Developing user-friendly web forms for data entry and inquiry.
  • Creating views that provide insightful perspectives on the data, facilitating effective management and decision-making.
  • Testing the application to ensure its functionality and efficiency.
  • (Bonus) Developing a user manual or tutorial for the collective members to navigate and use the application effectively.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • A deep understanding of the working and needs of non-profit collectives, particularly in the context of operations management.
  • Proficiency in using Airtable for database and application development.
  • Skills in creating user-friendly UI/UX designs for webforms and views.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting, leveraging digital tools and platforms.
  • Developing a user training module or tutorial.
  • Gathering feedback from potential users and making necessary adjustments to the application.

Final deliverables should include:

  • The fully functional Airtable application.
  • A detailed user manual or tutorial (if bonus task is undertaken).
  • A final report outlining the development process, challenges faced, and how they were addressed.
  • A 10-15 minute presentation detailing the project and demonstrating the application.

Mentorship

Students will be closely mentored by our team throughout the project. We will provide guidance and answers to questions regarding:

  • The objectives and expectations of the collective.
  • The specified database structure and relational connections.
  • Potential user needs and preferences.
  • Any challenges or issues they might encounter during the development process.
  • You will have a prime contact available by email, text, phone or Zoom
  • We will do weekly musters to monitor progress in the weekly iteration.
