ethical standards and conduct management research urban planningThe purpose of this project is to conduct a literature review and design a study about urban attitudes towards wildlife and our natural spaces in the City of Red Deer. This project is part of a larger multi-year plan to study human attitudes towards wildlife in urban areas, determine wildlife occupancy, connectivity and movement around the City of Red Deer to promote human-wildlife coexistence in this region.
For this component of the study will focus on conducting a literature review on urban attitudes towards wildlife and urban green spaces. This information will be supplemented by a review wildlife conflict data from within an around the City of Red Deer to identify conflict hotspots and an assessment of the population status and movement of urban ungulates (especially moose) within and around the city. This analysis will allow us to plan future research projects and make informed management recommendations to promote human-wildlife coexistence, improve habitat connectivity and inform future urban planning in Red Deer.
The student will be required to conduct a literature review, prepare applications for Human Ethics approval, design the study, and deploy it if time permits.
Each TA will be assigned to a specific faculty mentor and have regular meetings.
Student will not have an assigned office space and will work remotely online as fits their class schedule.
