SSRIA - Market Research
PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: The Smart Sustainable Resilient Infrastructure Association (SSRIA) is a not-for-profit member based association. We are working to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies and products that can reduce GHG emissions in buildings. We are a small organization with just two employees and a dedicated volunteer board of directors that represent large industry firms (Stantec and Ledcor), post-secondary institutions (SAIT), related not-for-profits, small businesses and individuals with diverse business expertise. The membership nature of our organization allows us to build and engage a network of industry representatives because our mission cannot be achieved without their involvement and leadership to change the way the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry typically design and build buildings. SSRIA is coming to the end of its second membership year and would like to analyze member satisfaction with the benefits they receive as a member and with SSRIA's overall missions and activities. This knowledge is integral to maintain our existing membership base as well as to continue to grow the network move our mission forward. The project will allow for the collection of this information through the design and development of a survey and the analysis of the resulting data to define a suite of member benefits and engagement activities to be offered in 2022. The project requires 1 student for 50 hours. KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET: Research similar membership organizations to identify additional potential member benefits Design and develop survey Distribute survey to all members and key stakeholders that are non-members Collect and analyse data Deliver final report with recommendations based on data analysis IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES/RÔLES/RESPONSABILITÉS:* Please note appropriate projects can accommodate most students, regardless of field of study or experience. We may not be able to fill these roles exactly. Veuillez noter que les projets appropriés peuvent accueillir la plupart des étudiants, quel que soit leur domaine d'études ou leur expérience. Nous ne pourrons peut-être pas remplir ces rôles exactement. Engage NS - Understanding Effective SDG Practices for Reaching Various Audiences
PROJECT DESCRIPTION/DESCRIPTION DU PROJET: Engage Nova Scotia is an independent non-profit whose focus is a vibrant, inclusive, and resilient province. Our work sits at the intersection of government, non-profit, business, and academic sectors. We have been driving the NS Quality of Life Initiative since 2017. Our approach: We actively seek to include diverse voices – from all cultural communities, from all parts of the province, and from as many perspectives as possible We operate in a collaborative, neutral, and open space with partners from the private, public, and non-profit sectors, academia, and communities that no one organization or sector owns We create just enough structure to support our activities while staying lean, nimble, and transparent How we do things is as important as what we do We move forward in a spirit of responding to opportunities, supporting one another to take risks, and learning as we go KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES/TÂCHES ASSOCIÉES AU PROJET: Engage is coordinating a 3-year initiative to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in NS. We are seeking to learn more about effective SDG-related community outreach, design, data analysis and visualization, and communications for a variety of audiences and demographic groups, including historically marginalized and underserved communities. The following are the questions that we’d like students to explore: Outreach: Who is working with and towards the SDGs in NS and Canada? What are they doing? What kind of outreach is happening by those working towards the SDGs? Who are they reaching out to? What has effective community outreach around the SDGs looked like in NS and beyond? Does community outreach around the SDGs differ for different target audiences? If so, what should Engage consider when engaging with various communities? Communications: What are best practices as they relate to the SDGs? How do communications differ across different target audiences? What should be considered when communicating with various audiences? How can our communications be as accessible and inclusive as possible? Is there a common vocabulary for describing the SDGs in NS? If so, what words or phrases show up most often? Data Analysis and Visualization: Who is analyzing or visualizing SDG-specific data in NS and beyond? What are they doing? What are best practices as they relate to the SDGs? Do data visualization best practices differ for different audiences? If so, what should Engage consider when visualizing data? Design: What are design and media best practices as they relate to the SDGs? Do design and media best practices differ for different audiences? If so, how should Engage consider design and media for various communities? How can our designs and media be as accessible and inclusive as possible? Using the analysis, the design Intrapreneur would then design graphics and visualizations for various aspects of the SDG program. To this end, Engage’s project will allow students to answer these questions through research (landscape and social media reviews). In doing so, the Intrapreneurs will strengthen Engage’s awareness of effective SDG-related outreach, data analysis and visualization, design, and communications. IDEAL ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES/RÔLES/RESPONSABILITÉS:* Market research Data analysis Design Communications FINAL PROJECT DELIVERABLES/LIVRABLES DU PROJET: Intrapreneurs will: Summarize their findings in response to the questions they’ve explored Provide recommendations surrounding effective SDG-related community outreach, data analysis and visualization, design, and communications for a variety of audiences and demographic groups, including historically marginalized and underserved communities Produce graphics and other communications tools through design
